The three-line pattern on this basket is known as the “unity” design and symbolizes the three ethnic groups that divided Rwanda in 1994, but who are now united.

Non-profit All Across Africa has created employment for almost 5,000 artisans from Ghana, Rwanda and Uganda, impacting their families and communities. As a result, the artisans' wages have increased more than five times their previous wages. All Across Africa is one of a small group of companies to carry the Nest Seal of Ethical Handcraft on their Rwanda and Uganda products—the highest standards for assessing artisan homeworker production and supply chains.
