Beaded Heart Brooch
The heart is a centuries-old symbol of love. This gorgeous hand-embroidered pin is perfect for the loved ones in your life.
Since 2009, French company Macon et Lesquoy has been telling stories in the form of hand-embroidered jewelry. Born from a cigarette hole accident, the pins allow one to repair a favorite sweater or bring a touch of luxury to an ordinary outfit. Founders Marie and Anne-Laure have designed up to date embroidered pins with 17th century technique. This technique, called "cannetille", uses spirally twisted threads of metal and sometimes incorporates beads as well. It is an old technique in Pakistan, where the craftspeople are highly skilled. The company operates its own workshop in Pakistan; sixty embroiders work there exclusively, full time. The two designers ensure that social and safety conditions are imposed, enforced and regularly monitored.
Care: each hand-embroidered pin is delicate. Avoid: machine-washing, dry-cleaning, all contact with water, acids or alcohol, long exposures to heat or light. Please do not bend and avoid friction with bag straps., seat belts, etc. If a metal thread sticks out, cut it as short as possible. Please use caution when using pin on delicate fabrics like silk or leather. If a pin is inadvertently machine-washed, don't panic. You can mend it by retrieving the two parts that peeled off (it is usually what happens); trying to delicately flatten the embroidery between your fingers; gently applying flexible neoprene glue on both parts with a brush; when the glue doesn’t stick to your finger anymore, sticking the parts back together; tightening firmly with your fingers so as not to crush the embroidery.
