Kenyan Olivewood Pendulum Spoons
Olive wood is a wild tree native to East Africa, known for its brilliant grain patterns and durability. Kenyan artisans hand carve the fine wood into useful salad servers with a pleasantly curving pendulum shape and handles adorned with bleached cow bone. Available in large or small sizes. Hand-wash only.
Swahili African Modern is a fair trade import, design and distribution company based in Eugene, Oregon. Founder Leslie Mittelberg lived in Kenya and fell in love with African artistry. Upon returning to the US in 1995, she founded her company and named it in honor of the people of East Africa whose artistry inspired her. Swahili now has a large network that includes individual markers, export agents, and micro-enterprises in nations all over Africa.
